On June 18, folks gathered in Paterson, NJ for a brief rally and march to Representative Pou’s office (NJ-9 Congressional district). We had a lively group, including participants from National Nurses United (NNU), Bergen/Passaic Democratic Socialists of America, Our Revolution, Hot Girls for NJ, the Green Party, and NJUHC. We delivered about 250 petitions, the full results of the Rutgers-Eagleton poll, and an NNU-sponsored open letter with hundreds of organizations that have endorsed Medicare for All. Representative Pou wasn’t in her office, but her staff promised to pass our delivery on to her.
NNU has set July 30, the 61st anniversary of Medicare, as another national action day, and a delegation will again visit Rep Pou’s office with more evidence about why she should co-sponsor HR3069. Ways you can help include:
- Table for a few hours at a post office in NJ-9. We’ll provide everything you need! Contact Tom at [email protected]. This is the best way to generate petition signers and post cards to Pou’s office.
- Recruit anyone you know in NJ-9 to send a post card, make a call to Pou’s office (DC office: 202-225-5751; Paterson office: 973-523-5152), or sign the online petition – act.medicare4all.org/signup/pou-petition
