Happy Holidays from NJUHC!

As 2025 draws to a close, and thoughts turn to year end charitable giving, I hope that you will consider making a donation to the NJ Universal Healthcare Coalition (NJUHC). As I am sure you are aware, health care is once again becoming a major topic of political discourse, and will likely be a major issue dominating the 2026 midterm elections, and the presidential elections in 2028.

Multiple polls have confirmed that Americans favor publicly financed health care over “health insurance” offered by private, for profit corporations by more than a 2:1 margin. A poll that NJUHC conducted in collaboration with the Rutgers-Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling found that 71% of NJ voters favor Medicare For All. More than 15 NJ municipalities have passed resolutions in support of it.

We continue to meet with New Jersey’s federal legislators to urge support for the Medicare For All Acts of 2025 (S1506 and HR 3069). We also now have eight NJ Senate cosponsors of NJ S304 – legislation that would provide traditional Medicare coverage (NOT “Medicare Advantage”) for all legal residents of NJ, irrespective of age or employment status. We are looking to introduce legislation to deprivatize NJ Medicaid, as data from other states demonstrate both improved care and cost saving by preventing the profiteering by managed care organizations from NJ Family Care, which currently insures close to 2 million New Jerseyans,

Our membership meetings attract nationally prominent speakers, and members of our own speakers bureau remain willing to speak to groups throughout the state on the benefits of Medicare For All. I hope you will support NJUHC with both a monetary donation and a commitment to foster our educational and advocacy missions. Donations may be made through our website:  www.universalhealthcarenj.org, or by check payable to NJUHC and addressed to NJUHC, 609 W. South Orange Avenue, Apt. 6JK, South Orange, NJ 07079-1066. Please note that as we are a 501(c)(4) organization, contributions are not tax deductible.

All of us on the Board wish you a healthy, joyous, and meaningful Holiday Season!
